Packing containers quickly and in the best possible way
PackAssistant is the leading software in the field of optimizing packing configurations of identical parts into containers. The time-consuming process of trying to configure complex geometrical shapes into containers manually, with often non-optimal solutions, is a thing of the past. PackAssistant instead offers planners and packers a rapid, intuitive solution.
A research group from the Department of Optimization at the Fraunhofer Institute for Algorithms and Scientific Computing SCAI won the 25,000 Euro innovation prize for Climate and Environment (IKU) in the "Environmentally friendly products and services" category.
PackAssistant fills containers with bulk good
The well established industrial software PackAssistant is now able to calculate the filling of containers with bulk goods. Furthermore it's possible to compute models with a vast amount of data. The models are reduced in order to quickly calculate precise packing solutions.
The pictures (l.) show the filling of a container with an engine-transmission support:
First packing solution (picture above and in the middle): Solid layer pads with a thickness of 3 millimeter und 1 centimetre distance of the parts from each other = 126 parts.
Second packing solution (picture below): Bulk good = 186 parts
